Nurit leaves her husband and her small town and takes her two kids to the big city. In Tel Aviv she finds work as a “Dan” bus driver and rents an apartment in the southernmost part of the city. Nurit finds that she has trouble juggling the demands of her job and her children. Nurit hires Mushidi, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, to be a live-in nanny. Mushidi agrees to cook and take care of the children in the place of rent. With the help of Mushidi, Nurit discovers new things about herself and redefines her motherhood and femininity.
